#TumblingForTrees: Tree nursery in Senegal grows with over 1,500 somersault trees

As part of the MOVE campaign by the German Sports Youth (dsj), all athletes were called upon to participate in a special challenge. The concept of #TumblingForTrees was quite simple: The more somersaults performed, the faster the tree nursery grows, which we are building together with the Zenaga Foundation in Senegal.

Creativity knew no bounds: Videos and pictures only needed to show somersaults, which were then uploaded on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok with the hashtag #TumblingForTrees. Additionally, the German Sports Youth and Sports For Future had to be tagged. MOVE campaign face and singer Wincent Weiß, as well as basketball pro Luis Figge, also joined in and especially encouraged children and young people to move while engaging in climate action.

At the end of the action, which concluded on September 16, tree seeds were donated for the establishment of the tree nursery in Senegal. And behold: Bringing movement and climate protection together can be so simple! Over 1,500 somersaults were performed by various organizations, sports clubs, and individuals, making a small but significant contribution to climate protection.

We are overwhelmed by the positive response to the challenge and enjoyed every creative somersault video! You can find the final video here. We also thank the German Sports Youth for the successful collaboration: It was a great initiative and a lot of fun!
